I just returned from an amazing trip to Amsterdam! Besides the reputation it has for things that are normally illegal, it is hands down one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
Amsterdam was pretty chilly, so I wore a hooded dress with a flannel overtop, and some thick sweater tights underneath.
Dress: H&M (similar, but no hood), flannel shirt: Forever 21, tights: Topshop, spiked bracelet: Trendy Everything, gold bracelet: Forever 21 (similar).
It's been a goal of mine since before I could remember to travel the world. This semester, I've really started to achieve that dream. My fall break consisted of a journey to Amsterdam, allowing me to see a completely different culture than what I'm used to. It was fascinating how friendly everyone was in a city that I believed to be centered around taboo customs.

In all reality, Amsterdam was so much more than what college kids talk about. Yes, prostitution and marijuana are legal. But when walking the streets of the city, those things seemed obsolete. The canals, bike-riding, museums (some are definitely NOT for children), and the Anne Frank House were definitely the highlights of my trip. That's not to say I didn't see the less-refined parts of the city... but we won't get into those details...

This is amazing! I have always wanted to travel and Amsterdam is definitely high on the list. I actually just wrote a post about my traveling dreams (http://lushtoblush.com/travel-the-world-with-airbnb/). I hope you had a great time! :)

Thanks for the comment, Megan! You definitely should try to get there. There's so much to do and it's a pretty cheap city compared to other tourist spots in Europe.

Aww! I've never been out of the country...but when I do finally leave, Amsterdam will be one of the spots I visit.

So inspired to see the different parts of Europe. Did you fit all of your clothes in a carry on or checked bag?

Thanks Maria! I used a backpack, actually. I made sure to pack light because we didn't know when we could check into our hostel. Only packing the essentials is tough. xx

Hi Erin! I am so jealous of these photos you took. (and of course all the amazing experiences you must have had while you were there)

It seems to me that you really got an insider feel for what it's like there and even though I know very little about Amsterdam and have always been a bit skeptical about going but it's definitely on my list of places to see now. Thanks won won. :D

Thanks Will! I'm glad I changed your mind about it. It's so much more than prostitutes and weed, I promise you. I was skeptical about it as well beforehand.
