Leggings, camisoles, bodysuits.... that's the basis of the body contour class at the Fashion Institute, undergarment apparel made in 4-way stretch cotton lycra. A very specialized study.
For our first project we draped spandex on the form (women's mannequin) creating a 'second skin' which was then used to create a personalized, unique pattern. Design and sew a creative, sexy bodysuit that incorporates elastic at the legs and a snap close crotch using this season's latest trends and don't forget your market research! That was the assignment. oh yeah, and we had a week to do it on top of our 8 other classes, But in the fashion world, that's a normal day.
Lately, I have been on a trend binge (or maybe New York is finally getting to me) So I went the leather route, instant luxe and sex appeal. And mesh? See through was all over the latest runway shows, plus its super sexy. Especially if this body suit were to be worn by a dancer, like a back up dancer for Beyonce (a girl can dream)....
