The cool thing about fashion is that it always seems to come back. Check out some of these modern looks inspired by film stars from back in the day.
The inspiration for this look was none other than Marilyn Monroe in her 1960 film Let's Make Love. Sweater dresses came back in a good way this fall, and since they're so comfortable, I'm a huge fan. The cowl neck offers a little bit of extra warmth. The striped tights from Debenhams are a more modern approach to Marilyn's simple black ones that she wears.  I don't know about you, but I am seeing patterned tights everywhere lately.

Donna Reed.

Everyone might not know who Donna Reed is, but she was the female lead in the widely popular It's a Wonderful Life from 1946. Instead of using a collared dress, I included a lace collar necklace from Johnny-Loves-Rose, which is totally amazing. The tights and knee-highs together is a very London look, but it makes this adorable vintage look somewhat edgy.

Audrey Hepburn.

Who says you can't wear this cute summer outfit in the fall? This season, shorts with tights are hugely popular. This outfit inspired by Audrey's simple and playful look features NYX lipstick, which Molly just reviewed (you can see her post here). The zippered shorts from Nastygal add the right amount of extra detail to make this look work with still keeping a casual feel to it.

Elizabeth Taylor.

I definitely took some liberties modernizing this look, but I feel that a lot is up to the imagination with black and white photos. This sexy look worn by Elizabeth features an off-the-shoulders top, which has a totally new twist with this peplum top from ASOS. Included is a red color pop using these awesome pumps and seriously affordable clutch. The high waisted pants keep the retro vibe to the outfit.

I love vintage fashion so much. It's so inspirational because the people who wore the styles were (and still are) so iconic! I'm especially loving Audrey's and Elizabeth Taylor's style above.

I love that you included the Audrey Hepburn summer look. Living in Florida, I'm all about breaking fashion's seasonal "rules".
